Cluster Development Programme
Cluster Development Programme

The cluster/sector-based approach is a popular strategy to enhance the productivity and competitiveness by technology infusion to improve traditional pratcices as well as the capacity building of Micro, Small and medium scale entrepreneurs scattered in the country in a collective basis. A cluster is a group of entrepreneurs located within a distinguishable area or a value chain that goes beyond a geographical area and producing similar products or services, which can be linked together by common physical infrastructure facilities that help, address their common challenges. It also becomes more cost- effective for the government and other supporting agencies to provide business development services (BDS) to a whole cluster of enterprises rather than for individual enterprises in several locations.
Objectives
- To support MSMEs by addressing common issues such as improvement of technology, skills & quality, market access, easier access to finance etc.
- To build up the capacity of the MSMEs in bargaining matters and dealing with institutional support.
- To create and improvement of infrastructure facilities for the new or existing clusters.
- To set up common facility centres.
