To support sustainable growth for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), NEDA partnered with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and PASS Asia under the “UPLIFT” project. This initiative focuses on aiding migrant returnees and communities in vulnerable situations by enhancing their skills, promoting safe migration, and fostering economic resilience. As part of UPLIFT, a capacity-building program was organized on August 21, 2024, at the Subasinghe Conference Hall, Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research & Training Institute.
The National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA), in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), successfully conducted the “Gender and Enterprise Together (GET) Ahead” Training of Trainers (ToT) program from 10th to 14th June 2024. This initiative aimed to strengthen the capabilities of NEDA officers in promoting enterprise development with a special focus on the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector in Sri Lanka. A total of 20 officers from NEDA, representing both the head office and regional staff, participated in this intensive training.
The National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) is excited to announce the implementation of the Brain into Business Programme, in collaboration with the University of Vocational Technology (UNIVOTEC). This pioneering initiative aims to instil valuable skills and knowledge in aspiring entrepreneurs, equipping them for success in the competitive entrepreneurial domain. The program encourages educated youth to embrace entrepreneurship rather than solely seeking traditional employment.
The Swashakthi Bimmal Ekamuthuwa Society (Kurawalana) in Attanagalla DS stands as a community-driven development cluster project proposed by Ms. Wasanthi Senasinghe – Enterprise Development Officer at Attanagalle Divisional Secretariat. On the 5th of July, 2024, NEDA officials visited the society to evaluate the feasibility of funding this promising project. The visit was honored by the presence of Hon. Mr. Prasanna Ranaweera, Minister of State for Small and Medium Enterprise Development with the key figures from NEDA, including Mr. Lasantha Kariyapperuma – Chairman/DG. For more info>>

Another phase of the Beauty Scholarship Program jointly implemented by National Enterprise Development Authority and Herbline Institute was successfully launched on 02.11.2023 with the participation of Kegalle district entrepreneurs. Mr. Jayashanta Kumara provided as a resource person for this program and it was organized by the Kegalle District Coordinating Officer.
Many programs are launched by NEDA to uplift entrepreneurial people.
A technical training program on the processing of “Badun Gatha Mushroom” was conducted on 2.11.2023 for the entrepreneurs of Wariyapola Divisional Secretariat and resources were contributed by the Enterprise Development Officer of Kurunegala Divisional Secretariat. This program was organized by Enterprise Development Officer Mr. N.D.M.Aruna Shantha.”
Our NEDA officers are carrying out many programs at the ground-level in order to plant the culture of entrepreneurship in the Sri Lankan society.
A technical training program for the production of fruit jam was conducted on 31st October 2023 for the entrepreneurs of Hakmana Divisional Secretariat. This was organized by Hakman Enterprise Development Officer Mrs. Udeshika Mahanama.
The Anuradhapura district program of the five-day residential entrepreneurship training workshop series implemented by the National Youth Service Council with the contribution of resources from the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA), which is the home of entrepreneurs, was organized by the Anuradhapura office of the council. Anuradhapura District Coordinating Officer Mr. Prabhath and Enterprise Development Officer Mr. Lalith Senarathne from NEDA acted as resource persons.
