Who are we
National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) is a government statutory body which is operating under the purview of the Ministry of Industries. Presently, the office of NEDA is located at No.561/3, Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 5.
The NEDA operates from Colombo and connects with its Development Officers at Divisional Secretariat level in all over the country by reaching 288 officers. Apart from that, NEDA has developed and maintained neda.lk website and MSME database to promote its services to Micro, Small and Medium entrepreneurs (MEMEs). Further, NEDA encourages MSME to use IT to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of their business undertaking. At the same, time NEDA had taken initiatives to improve the IT applications in order to serve the MSMEs as well.

Our Objectives
- Stimulate the growth, expansion and development of Sri Lanka’s economy by encouraging, promoting and facilitating small and medium enterprise development within Sri Lanka.
- Stimulate and encourage the establishment and operation outside Sri Lanka of enterprises designed with view to Internationalize domestic enterprises capable of penetrating foreign markets for the fulfillment of the objectives of the act of NEDA.
- Formulate policies, plans, promotional incentives appropriately designed and effectively support and promote trade and development in industry and agriculture.
- Empowerment of people of human capital development with technical skills as an integral component of enterprise development.
- Develop infrastructure facilities required to meet the development needs
- Facilitate the access of entrepreneurs to finances required for enterprise development and operation.
- Establish a Technology Development Fund to promote research and development in connection with product development, technological enhancement and commercialization of patents.

Chairman's Profile
Mr. Lakshman Abeysekera is a distinguished Senior Chartered Accountant with over 30 years of experience spanning both the public and private sectors. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, AAT Sri Lanka, and CMA Sri Lanka. Additionally, he holds an MBA from the Institute of Postgraduate Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
With extensive expertise in Corporate Governance, Strategic Planning and Implementation, Finance, and Business Management, Lakshman has held prominent positions in public institutions, leading private enterprises and also has successfully established several thriving business ventures in Sri Lanka.
He has previously served as the Chairman of SDB Bank and the Rubber Research Board of Sri Lanka. Currently, he contributes as a Member of the Consultative Panel at the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission, a Member of the Advisory Committee on Agriculture and Food Security at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Sri Lanka, and as a Director of Kapruka Holdings PLC and Kegalle Plantations PLC. He also serves as the Chairman of the CA Sri Lanka SME Task Force.
Mr. Lakshman has a long-standing commitment to SME development and has volunteered extensively with the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA) on initiatives such as the SMEConnect.lk platform, Brain-into-Business Program, Regional Development Programs, and various other projects.
